Mission San Antonio Window I

Matted, not framed. Painted en plein air at the Mission San Antonio in Monterey County, CA, during a weekend paint out/retreat with the California Art Club. I wanted to paint something different and more contemporary than the traditional views of the mission and decided to go more abstract by zooming in closely. I loved the color of the adobe walls and wanted to capture all the different hues found in it, especially in the shadows. The bright light shaft coming down from above also captured my attention and held special meaning to me in such a sacred place.
