This beautiful little girl and her twin brother, Aiden, were adopted from India and now live in Florida. Their parents wanted a portrait of both of them in their traditional Indian outfits and flew to California where we took the reference photos at the Hindu temple in Malibu. It was quite an experience trying to get photos of two 18 month olds who were much more interested in running around discovering things than in sitting still next to each other! The photos that captured them both the best unfortunately didn't match completely in the lighting so I decided to paint each one on a separate panel, using the wall relief of the elephant behind them as a unifying element and framing them together in one frame with a mat around and between each piece. This way, each child will be able to later take his/her portrait and reframe it individually.
