Top Turn, 11 x 11", pastel

This was a fun piece to paint of a surfer I observed in Hanalei Bay, Kauai, HI. I was asked to write a step-by-step demo by the website asportinglife.com and you can see it on their site here. Check out some of their other posts, quite a nice collection of sport art and photography!

I donated this piece to an event called Mystery Masterpiece at Studio Channel Islands Art Center where I'm a resident artist and board member. The event is a fun one where the artists are kept secret from the buyers until after purchase so the art is chosen on its own merit.

The collector who chose this painting will stop by my studio to get it signed properly on the front before framing:)
